Our background

WLD’s team have been providing Driver Training for over 40 years and we are one of the UK’s largest driver training resources for learners and driver trainers.

The WLD group is formed of a number of long established and trusted companies which provide continual professional development (CPD) and advanced training and coaching for the driver training industry.

Our Training Principal and one of the Company’s founders is John Farlam – a much revered and trusted ‘Guru’ and leading driver training expert. John has been delivering ‘MasterClasses’ to the industry for decades, helping Driving Instructors, Driving Schools, Driving Instructor Trainers and Driving Instructor Training companies to develop the industry’s leading trainers.

John has been involved with many major Driving Schools and Approved Driving Instructor trainers in the UK and has produced training literature for and use by companies like The Instructor College, LDC, LetsDrive, and many, many more driving schools. More than 1400 Driving Schools in the UK regularly use our training and coaching skills, techniques and products.

Over the years, our team has rescued many trainee instructors that have been let down by their previous training company.

Experts

Our team includes regular contributors to the ADI Confederations and Committees (such as UKDIC and ADI NJC) as expert speakers on coaching and Driver Training.

They are columnists for industry magazines ‘ADINews’ and the ‘Intelligent Instructor’ magazines, and are involved with a number of major coaching projects with industry leaders.

our Firsts

1980’s

Our Training Principal co-developed the first fully structured and documented ‘trainer training’ programme when he was Director of Training and Development at Learner Driving Centres (LDC). To this day, many training companies still use courses based on this model.

1994

Our Training Principal was first to introduce training methods such as Neuro-Linguistic-Programming (NLP) and coaching into driver training.

1995

Our Training Principal set up the first UK web site dedicated to the training and skill development of driving instructors implementing modern NLP and coaching practices.

1999

Our ADI MasterClass becomes widely recognised as a leading course for continued professional development (CPD).

2001

First to utilise ‘Success Based’ coaching styles into driving instructor training.

2005

Our Training Principal and Training Director both invited onto the first pioneering University of East London (UEL) Coaching course along with the Chief Instructor of the Met Police, Head of Training at RoSPA and the Army Chief of Instructors.

2007

Our Training Principal becomes a regular contributor to UKDIC and ADI NJC as an expert speaker on coaching and driver training.

2010

35 years’ work to launch our evolutionary online training course.

2010

Driver Active – a unique web based training tool revolutionises the way instructors prepare for lessons.

2014

WLD launch first completely free Theory Test app for learner drivers.

2015

DRIVE is able to offer 3 incredible guarantees to people wanting to train as a Driving Instructor.

The Training course for the ADI certificate has been very well developed and delivered. All aspects of the course are developmental and put into practice as you progress. Manageable timelines and targets are set, this allowed me to be organised and set time aside to complete the work to the timelines. All this while working at the same time. The support is outstanding and available as and when required, by email or phone. The strange and unexpected experience to arise is that I feel that while completing the online and live driving course, all of the staff I have been involved with within the course delivery have made me feel as though I was an important part of the team.
